Argentina launched yet another late comeback to stun England in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals and march on to the final against Spain on Sunday (19 July).
Anthony Gordon had given England a 55th-minute lead but Argentina hit back in the 85th minute through Enzo Fernández and then, in the second minute of injury time, Lautaro Martinez scored to send the Argentina fans wild.
Both Argentina goals were set up by Lionel Messi , which means he now moves to the top of the Golden Boot standings as he now has one more assist than Kylian Mbappé, with both players having scored eight goals so far in the tournament.
While England missed out on their first FIFA World Cup final in 60 years, Argentina now have the chance to become the first back-to-back champions since Brazil in 1962.
