While the world remains in shock over the murder of Alton
Sterling and now Philando Castile, a black filmmaker is doing her part to make
a small difference. Issa Rae whose show “Insecure” will premiere on HBO this
fall, first suggested that a scholarship fund be started for the children of
Alton Sterling… before getting behind it herself and starting a GoFundMe. The
scholarship fund has since raised nearly $343K in 22 hours. See her tweets after the cut
Can we got a scholarship fund going 4 #AltonSterling's son/kids? Some of us feel helpless when these things happen, but that's a small step.— Issa Rae (@IssaRae) July 6, 2016
Want to play a small part? Donate to the #AltonSterling Family Scholarship Fund. *ALL* proceeds will go to his fam: https://t.co/DiMEF3YfFQ— Issa Rae (@IssaRae) July 6, 2016
