Abia State PDP Press release concerning the disqualification of Gov. Ikpeazu by Federal High Court Abuja

The Peoples' Democratic Party in Abia State has received the news of the verdict of Hon Justice Okon Abang of Federal High Court, Abuja today, Monday 27th June, 2016 and wishes to state as follows;

(1) That the Peoples' Democratic Party in Abia State has always had confidence in the Judiciary as the last hope of the common man,

(2)That the verdict given by Hon Justice Okon Abang is merely the first step in a three-step judicial process before justice would be completely dispensed with in this matter,

(3) That the Peoples' Democratic Party in Abia State knows that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has the constitutional right to appeal against this verdict at the Court of Appeal and, if necessary, up to the Supreme Court of Nigeria,

(4) That Governor Okezie Ikpeazu shall remain as the Governor of Abia State until all windows of justice have been exhausted,

(5) That the Peoples' Democratic Party in Abia State is aware that the Electoral Law 2014, as amended, does not provide for any aspirant who did not participate in an election to be declared winner of such election and

(6) That the Party urges her teeming members and supporters in the State not to panic, as justice shall surely reign.
