Juventus confirm signing of former Barcelona defender Dani Alves

Juventus have confirmed the signing of Dani Alves on a two-year contract, with the defender given the option to extend the deal by another 12 months.

The Brazilian, who departed Barcelona at the end of last season after eight years at Camp Nou, underwent a medical on Monday morning in Turin and was greeted by hundreds of Bianconeri supporters upon arrival.

He becomes the Serie A champions’ third signing of the summer, following the acquisition of Miralem Pjanic from Roma and Mario Lemina from Marseille.

Alves won 23 trophies at Barcelona, including three Champions Leagues and six La Liga titles, but fell out with the manager, Luis Enrique, last season and was reportedly dropped for a game against Valencia for posting a video impersonating his wife consoling him following the Champions League defeat against Atlético Madrid.

He had been previously linked with a move to England, including Manchester United, but has instead chosen to work with Massimiliano Allegri.

Juve are also fighting for Paul Pogba to remain with the club following interest from Real Madrid, who are said to be willing to make the France midfielder the world’s most expensive player
