English Premier League club, Watford FC, have confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker, Isaac Success, for a club record transfer fee thought to be around £12.5m.
Watford through their official website on Friday stated that Success had agreed a five-year contract at Vicarage Road thus becoming the Hornets’ third new signing ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League campaign, following Jerome Sinclair and Christian Kabasele.
The 20-year old Nigerian striker, who can play in a central or wide attacking role, is making a switch to the Premier League from Spanish outfit Granada. Success, who has played for the Nigeria U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets and Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs after scoring six goals in 30 La Liga appearances last season.
On Friday, there were reports that Watford rejected a sensational a £37.5m (about N15bn) offer from Chinese club, Shanghai SIPG, who are keen on luring Ighalo away from England.
For many, rejecting such mouth-watering offer could just mean Watford are not willing to let go of Ighalo who by all standards enjoyed a phenomenal Premier League debut last term, scoring 15 goals for the club.
