I've a problem with some people. They say don't criticize men of God. What they are actually saying is whatever a man does as long as he calls himself a man of God,he should be excused. I can't accept that! Jesus Christ who is God and came to earth as a human being subjected himself to human laws. He was criticized but He never got angry with His critics. He kept explaining Himself and His actions.
I feel Pastor Chris' marriage could have been salvaged if some people had not worked so had to protect his image and make him a demi-god.The man was presented as having the most blissful,problem-free marriage in human history even when it was obvious some things didn't add-up. A story went viral back in 2012/13 of one of his close senior pastors who accused Pastor Chris of cheating on his wife. That story was quickly swept under the carpet as the " touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm" slogan was laundered. Pressmen and ordinary men like me then stopped probing.
About a week before the story broke(in 2015) that Anita Oyakhilome was filing for divorce,I was with a dear friend in Warri(I'm not sure she still considers me dear). I had traveled a long distance to see her for I loved her company alot. She was from my alma mata and member of Believers' Love World. We got down to our tete a tete and ended on our different faiths. She was so passionate about Pastor Chris. I was so impressed that I didn't know when I told her Anita will divorce him soon. Perhaps it was the leading of the Holy Spirit,I can't say.The words just flew out of my mouth! I was so shocked a few days later when the story broke.I couldn't call her to tell her "but I told you". Our relationship has become sour since then.
I love Pastor Tunde Bakare alot. A whole lot! He is one of the most truthful men of God I know. He criticizes people to better them. When Pastor Oyedepo said "the anointing oil is the Holy Spirit packaged in a bottle" in one of his books,Pastor Bakare rebuked him on the pulpit and tore the book. That statement was obviously fallacious and needed correction. Apostle Paul rebuked Apostle Peter.
The supreme court just confirmed that Rev.King will face the gallows. The Rev.King story brought these thoughts I am sharing here. I worked in a company a few blocks from Rev.King's church in Ajao Estate. Everybody feared him. He had this aura about him and a funny beard that made people "give him chance". He moves in a convoy and then you have several obviously starved, sickly and bearded followers lined up on the street wailing, calling and praising his name as he passes. He flogged his members;even on the streets. He dehumanized and abused them;yet they kept wailing and praised him. He professed to heal HIV and all forms of blood diseases and he had several billboards around Lagos claiming this. People trooped to his church and were abused more. He took his church members' wives,we looked the other way. I'm pretty sure that lady is not the first person Rev. King killed. But that lady had a sane family member who knew something was wrong and decided to pursue the case. If that person had not taken that bold step and save several other people,Rev.King will still be on the loose today killing, maiming and abusing people out there and being celebrated. Some buffon here on Facebook or anywhere will tell me to leave Rev.King alone because he's a man of God.
Tufia.......!
