2016 budget laste

President Muhammadu Buhari and Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives have reportedly met behind closed doors.

According to The Nation, the meeting between the pair is likely to be centred around the controversial budget which has generated widespread criticisms by Nigerians.

President Buhari has refused to pass the budget because of the grey areas in the document despite the fact that it has since been passed by the house.

Senate president, Bukola Saraki, was reportedly left out of the 30-minute meeting which had chief of staff to the president, Abba Kyari and the senior special assistant to the president on National Assembly matters (Senate), Ita Enang in attendance.

After the meeting, Kyari told journalists that the Speaker would not give details of the meeting because only one of the leaders of the National Assembly visited instead of both of them.

Journalists were also prevented from coming close to Dogara after the meeting as Enang also refused to make any comment on the meeting.

Meanwhile, earlier today, gates to the National Assembly were sealed as scores of protesting youths under the aegis of Occupy National Assembly and Save Nigeria Group stormed the premises.

The youths made up of various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and students, were demanding the resignation of Bukola Saraki, and that the lawmakers should immediately revisit the grey areas identified in the 2016 budget by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The two groups were the Save Nigeria Group who came on solidarity protest while the second,Occupy National Assembly sought the resignation of the Saraki among other things.
