The federal government has insisted that Senate president
Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu, his deputy have a case to answer concerning
alleged forgery of senate rules. The federal government also maintained that
both Saraki and Ekweremadu will get fair hearings.
This was made in a statement issued by Abubakar Malami, the
attorney-general of the federation and justice minister on Thursday.
In a statement he issued through his media aide, Mr Salihu
Othman Isah, Malami said it was quite unfortunate that the Senate
misinterpreted the action of the government to arraign the duo as a coup
against the legislature with a view to cause a leadership change in the
National Assembly.
