Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), minister of interior announced the Eid-ul-Fitr
public holidays on behalf of the government of the federation on Thursday, June
30 at Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Dambazau
advised all followers of the religion of Islam as well as Nigerians in general
to spread the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which are love, peace and justice
to their every day and by doing this, they will contribute to the growth and
development of Nigeria.
In a
statement by Mr Bassey Akpanyung, permanent secretary, ministry of Interior, it
explained that the minister of interior advised Nigerians to use the opportunity
of “this spiritual rejuvenation to reflect on the imperative of unity and
peaceful co-existence in strengthening the bond of togetherness for a strong,
virile nation.”
Dambazau,
while wishing Nigerians a hitch-free celebration in the statement, advised
Nigerians to give their total support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s
unalloyed commitment to leave a country with a lasting political legacy. The
once in a year month of fasting commenced on Monday, June 6, after the Sultan
of Sokoto, his Eminence, Muhammad Abubakar Sa’ad III, informed Nigerians about
the siting of the moon.
